Part 2 - The Elephant In The Room

We shouldn’t be aiming to SURVIVE the cuts and all the set backs thrown in our direction; we all know that there are more to come, once the wheels of momentum take hold the fall out shall be devastating to those who failed to embrace change and shift.

We should be aiming to THRIVE… not just have “leaders” use buzzwords like “innovate” but break it into actions that we can do now, actions both you and I can do. Not our leaders not your peers. Not someone else but you and I

And no I am not trying to use wording and spin to inspire you for a motivational wannabe pep talk.

No I am asking you… as I ask myself what can I do to improve the profession

Join our Vision to Unite Pharmacy to help us unite in a variety of way to help pharmacy and one another. To finally stop fighting amongst ourselves for scraps.

We must evolve and our hand is being forced. We must prepare and get mentally tough and endure the growing pains.

We are committed to provide services and advancement to overcome barriers and resistance to change. To have pharmacy focusing on a future of advancement and not that of thinning margins and risk of closures.

We ask you to help us, please don’t hinder each other but push each other towards our vision.

Pharmacy for the people that rely on us on an ever-growing and ever-ageing population.

The Middleman that is our end consumer, the public…for they are the Market.

The aspect of professionalism that builds the foundation for all of this is TRUST. Trust that we as Pharmacists are responsible and accountable and we hold a position of care in the public. We all have a duty of care toward the public and in doing so towards our peers.

The biggest barriers will be that of resistance to change within our own mind and a cultural shift within our profession. To trust one another in fighting the good fight to moulding the profession to take on the new challenges and grow into an new age.

One part of evolving is knowing what your environment is at the moment and how it is changing and what needs are needing to be addressed, thus how must we change to adapt to it and meet its needs

As many quotes and proverbs in all societies there is always one prominent one going along the lines of

“It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you don’t know where you are, and if you don’t know where you are, you don’t know where you’re going. And if you don’t know where you’re going, you’re probably going wrong.”

 Terry Pratchett

“Respect your past but remember NOT to live in the past, use what lesson you have learned and move forward”
